Congratulations with Lilypad Lake and Lakeside Frameits

Lily Pad Lake and Lakeside Framelits

The Lilypad Lake stamp set and coordinating Lakeside framelits are perfect for this congratulations card. This card could be used for many congratulatory occasions. I have had the set for awhile, contemplating how to best use it. I had an idea for a Great Blue Heron, but I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. Smoky Slate and Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends provided the right colors and shades, and while not a perfect bird, I think it works for this card.

To get a woodsy, marshy effect, I used Sahara Sand card stock for the card base, and a Sahara Sand panel embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. For extra woodsy dimension, I inked the embossing folder with Crumb Cake ink before inserting the card stock and running it through the Big Shot.

To create the marsh water, I used the lake stamps from the Waterfront stamp set.  I stamped them with Night of Navy ink on Whisper White scrap paper, then I fussy cut them and glued them to the embossed wood planks panel.

The heron was stamped with Memento black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock, then cropped with the corresponding die from the Lakeside Framelits.  I used Smoky Slate and Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends to color the bird. I colored in layers, allowing the ink to dry so I could determine the desired shades. I then added a glitter effect with Wink of Stella.

The framelits were also used to cut the marsh grasses, two from Crumb Cake and one from Sahara Sand card stock. It took me awhile to determine where to place them, and I am pleased with where they finally landed.

The “congratulations” is also from the Lilypad Lake stamp set.  I couldn’t decide between Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake, so I cut a tag in both colors with the framelit, layered the tags, and stamped on the Crumb Cake tag with Crumb Cake ink. I glued them to resemble a crooked, weathered sign, and the front of the card was complete.

The card definitely needed an addition to the inside, and the stamp set includes the perfect complement of lily pads and water lilies, which I stamped in Crumb Cake.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. This lovely heron probably deserves a name, so let me know if you think of one!!
