Country Livin’ Red, White and Blue Birthday Card

Country Livin'

I pulled out my favorite stamp set (again!) to make a red, white and blue birthday card. My upline, Candy Ford celebrated her birthday in July, and in typical Linda fashion, I was late getting this card to her. But, we both like how it turned out, and she is featuring it on her Stamp Candy blog today. You can check out her post here at

The boots shout ‘Americana’, and I wanted to use them on a card with a Fourth of July theme. The foundation for the patriotic look is card stock from Stampin’ Up! in Whisper White, Night of Navy, and Real Red. A splash of Wink of Stella gives the center boots some needed bling, which of course is always a bonus!

Overall, this was an easy card to make using two colors (plus white), a Happy Birthday sentiment, and boots times three. The only challenge was lining up the layers for symmetry on the card. But, even that was not difficult, and the finished project is cute!

Cardstock Dimensions:

  • Whisper White Thck: Card base = 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″.
  • Whisper White: Card layer = 4″ x 5 1/4″. Two scraps for stamping = ~3″ x 3″.
  • Real Red: Base layer = 4 1/8′ x 5 3/8″. Two scraps for stamping and cropped layers = ~3″ x 3″.
  • Night of Navy: Two ~3″ x 3″ scraps for cropped layers.

To make the card, I stamped the boots on the white card stock scraps using Real Red and Night of Navy inks, and on the red card stock with Night of Navy ink. I cropped the stamped images with a square from the Stitched Shapes framelits, and cut a layer of coordinating color using the Layering Square framelits.

Happy Birthday, from the Perennial Birthday stamp set was stamped in red ink. I lined up the stamped images on the top of the card, and glued all of the layers to the card base, and lifted the center pair of boots with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added Wink of Stella to the center boots because… why not?  There is always room for bling!

Here are the Stampin’ up! products I used to make this patriotic-themed birthday card. Clicking on the images will take you to my online store where you can review and/or purchase the products.
