Let’s dive into these papers. Stampin’ Up! released some videos, and they also supplied new sample projects that showcase each of the above Designer Series Papers. I will share the samples and supply lists, as well as available videos on blog posts the next few days.

Today’s focus is on Perennial Essence, and I will follow up with the rest of the papers in later posts. You will have a lot of information and ideas for projects that will help you choose the packages to include in your purchase.

Perennial Essence DSPDesigner Series Paper Sale: Perennial Essence

Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (DSP) features hand-painted impressionistic imagery in rich colors. The paper is pretty enough to frame by itself. It is one of the papers that is hard to cut into because it is so pretty, but please cut away and make beautiful projects for friends and family (or for yourself). Here’s a video from Stampin’ Up! that I recently posted on The Stamp Coach Facebook page. It is quick, less than one minute, so please take a moment to watch it and enjoy!

This paper coordinates with the Floral Essence Stamp Set, the Perennial Essence Suite, and several Stampin’ Up! colors: Balmy Blue, Blackberry Bliss, Blueberry Bushel, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Petal Pink, So Saffron, and Whisper White.

The samples from Stampin’ Up! (pages #106-107) show the versatility of these 12 x 12 sheets of paper and this suite. Of course there are cards to make, but there are also infinite project possibilities. Frame the paper? Make a scrapbook layout? Use the paper as a mat for a picture? Use the paper as a backdrop to display jewelry? So many uses!!

Traveler’s Journal with Perennial Essence Designer Series PaperDesigner Series Paper Sale: Perennial Essence

This project from Stampin’ Up! is a Traveler’s Journal, a pocket size notebook that you can carry with you to capture memories and ideas. You can make it in the size of your choice, then cut the pages 1/4″ smaller than the front and back covers. You will want a sewing machine for this project, or for a thicker journal you may want to sew by hand. There are some beyond-basic stamping techniques in this project, like masking, ink splattering, heat embossing and coloring with sponge daubers.

Decide the size of your notebook, and cut the cardstock for the covers.  Round the outside corners using the Detailed Trio Punch. Cut the inside pages ¼” shorter than the cover on all four sides, then round the corners. Wrap vellum around the back of a Designer Series Paper page to create a full vellum page. Once all pages are in the album, sew down the middle of
the album to hold it together using a standard stitch on the sewing machine. Make sure to check the tension of the sewing machine so that needle does not break. Remove extra pages, if necessary. If you want to add several pages, consider hand sewing.

Stamp flowers in assorted colors, then use a sponge dauber to fill in the flowers with the same ink as the outline color.  Mask the leaves and flowers to layer images. Stamp some images in Versamark ink, and then heat emboss with white embossing powder. Cut out the flowers and the leaves with the coordinating punches. Flick or press ink onto the lid of the Stampn’ Pad and then splatter lightly onto the card stock and the paper. Use a ruler and a light pencil line for lining up the lettering to keep it straight, and then erase the pencil lines. Accessorize with the copper clip and the copper washi tape from the Tags and More Accessories pack.

Here are the items used in the Stampin’ Up! sample notebook. You can save 10% by purchasing the stamp set and the punch as a bundle. Click on each item to learn more or to purchase in my online store.

The second sample from Stampin’ Up! is a standard sized (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) friendship or appreciation card with a sweet sentiment from the Floral Essence stamp set and Perennial Essence DSP. It is a simple card to make by using Stampin’ Pads and Stampn’ Blends for coloring and shading, and fussy cutting leaves and flowers. The layers and the printed paper dress it up and give it lots of sophistication.
