Happy Mother’s Day for the April Candy Hearts Blog Hop. Welcome! The them for today’s hop is Mother’s Day, and we have created fun projects for you today. My craft supplies are still in storage from a move and a remodel, so my focus is still on simple projects. Today’s card is simple and sweet for Mother’s Day. It is made from Stampin’ Up! products. The main color is Merry Merlot, and the printed paper is from the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper set. The star of the show is the 3-D flower made from specialty washi tape and a Clear Faceted Gem.

To make the card, I cut an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Merry Merlot card base with the long side scored, folded and burnished at 4 1/4″. I cut a 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ layer of Whisper White card stock, a layer of 3 5/8″ x 4 1/4″ Highland Heather card stock, and a layer of 3 3/8″ x 4 1/4″ purple poppy paper from the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper. After gluing the three layers, I centered and adhered them on the front of the card.

I stamped the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment from the Timeless Tulip stamp set using Merry Merlot ink on a scrap of Whisper White card stock. I then cut the sentiment with the Timeless Label punch, positioning the words toward the bottom of the punch to allow for the placement of the washi tape flower.

A 3 1/2″ x 5/8″ strip of Merry Merlot wrapped in 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon created a backdrop for the punched sentiment and the washi flower. After wrapping the card stock strip with the ribbon, I glued it across the layers, then adhered the sentiment on top.

The washi tape comes in pre-cut petals on a roll. I peeled off a petal at a time, and adhered them to each other at a base in the center. You can use a few petals to form a circle, or add more for a fuller flower. When the flower was finished, I positioned it on the ribbon-covered strip and the corner of the label with the sentiment. I topped off the flower center and the corner of the label with clear faceted gems – large for the flower and small on the label.

For the inside of the card, I glued a layer of 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ Whisper White card stock, and I stamped a leaf in Merry Merlot ink. The stamp I used a leaf  from the Beautiful Promenade set and stamped it with Merry Merlot ink to coordinate with the colors of the card.
