Just Because Sunflowers Card is from the Jar of Flowers stamp set from Stampin’ Up! This card started as an experiment with coloring, which I don’t do often. I didn’t plan on making the card, but it evolved, and I like its simplicity.
I stamped the sunflower arrangement with Early Espresso ink on a piece of white card stock. Early Espresso is a very dark brown that I often use as a substitute for black; it gives a “softer” image. I pulled out various colors of Stampin’ Blends and started to color and shade and blend. I had a blast! Coloring with blends is fun and relaxing. When I made a mistake, I simply added more color or a different color. The yellows were easy, as the light and dark combination gave good shades. The pink flowers are my attempt at recreating hibiscus seen in Florida. What do you think?
After stamping and coloring the first set of sunflowers, and surprising myself with some coloring success, I decided to continue. Instead of using the vase from the Jar of Flowers stamp set and the Jar Punch, I opted to stamp the sunflowers two more times on the side of the white panel, then I stamped the “just because” sentiment from the Lovely You stamp set, also in Early Espresso ink. I adhered the stamped panel to a layer of Early Espresso card stock, and wrapped Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim (ribbon) around the panel, tied it in a knot, and trimmed he edges. I then glued the panel to a white card base and added three champagne rhinestones.
When I showed the finished project to a friend, she said: “that card would make me tear up if I received it. It is beautiful and gives me all the feels”, so I knew the card was complete. Mission = share joy. Status = accomplished.
