Puppy Sunshine for the Inking Royalty Blog Hop!

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s July Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word, and this month our projects are centered around SUNSHINE. The Sun is the single most important source of energy for life on Earth – it guides our clocks, calendars and planting schedules. We may be enduring a heat wave now, but we still associate the sun with positivity, joy and renewal.

We are excited to share our creations with you today. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the bottom of this post.

What brings more sunshine, positive thoughts and joy than a puppy? And this puppy from the Happy Tails stamp set and the Dog Builder Punch brings lots and lots of sunshine.

As you may know, we are in the middle of the longest remodel in the history of home construction (well, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but…). Through a recent move and the remodel, my stamping supplies get pushed further and further back in storage, so my crafting is limited. But, upon hearing that the theme for this month is Sunshine, I knew that 3″ x 3″ puppy cards were the answer, and I knew I could make them quickly with few supplies. These cards represent simple stamping to a “T”. I was able to make a set of four of these “sunshine puppy” cards in ~30 minutes, and that included foraging through boxes to find supplies.

To make the cards, I cut a piece of Soft Suede cardstock 3″ x 6″, then folded and burnished to make a 3″ x 3″ card base. I cut a 2 7/8′ square piece of Rococo Rose cardstock and layered it on the card base, then I cut a 2 3/4″ square of Whisper White cardstock for the top layer. For the inside of the card, I used a 2 7/8′ square piece of Whisper White. I adhered all cardstock layers onto the Soft Suede card base with multipurpose liquid glue.

Using the dog stamp from the Happy Tails set, I stamped in Soft Suede on a scrap piece of Soft Suede card stock, then cut the image with the Dog Builder Punch. I used a drop of Wink of Stella on the dog’s nose, because every sunshine puppy needs a bit of bling. I adhered the dog to the whisper white top layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I also used the Dog Builder Punch to cut a heart out of Rococo Rose cardstock, and I used a single Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to add the heart to the white layer. If you only have the standard size dimensionals, you can cut them into small pieces.

I topped off each card with three gold Metallic Pearls to complete the simple sunshine puppy cards.

The sentiment “Just Fur You!”, also from the Happy Tails stamp set is stamped on the inside white layer in Soft Suede.

Here are the Stampin’ Up! products I used to make these mini cards. You can click on each image to learn more or to purchase in my online store.

And, Stampin’ Up! sells envelopes for 3″ x 3″ cards. You can click below for information, and/or to order.

3″ x 3″ cards are great for friends, family, and customers. A set of four makes a great gift, and the single cards are also good to have to give to cashiers, tellers, and other service providers. They are a great way to spread sunshine. If you have not made this size card, I recommend that you give it a try.
