Scalloped Tag Topper Punch Mini Treat Holder
The theme for my recent stamp class was “punches”. I introduced projects that used punches and coordinating stamp sets from Stampin’ up! The sets give a polished and professional, finished look.
I have used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch for book marks, for tags, and for decoration on the front of a card, but I wanted to show even more uses, so I went to YouTube to do some research. The video from Dawn Griffith on how to make this mini treat holder jumped out at me, and I knew my life was changed forever – LOL! I may not be able to stop making these – ever!
This little gem holds three Hershey’s nuggets, or similar sized candies. It could also be a money holder, but chocolate is much more fun. You can use them for parties, teacher gifts, favors, place settings, and on and on. The best news is that they are really simple and quick to make, and you don’t need a lot of materials or supplies. You can easily use scraps.
To make these in class, we cut a 2″ x 7″ piece of card stock, scored and folded at 3″ and 4″, then punched both ends with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch.
The Designer Series Paper (DSP) was cut to 1 1/2″ x 6 1/4″ inch, then scored and folded at 2″, 3″, 5″, and 6″. We applied glue on the folded 1/4″ flap created by by the score line at 6″. We then adhered the two ends, forming a “bottomless box”.
Then we pushed the card stock into the “box” to form the treat holder, and placed the candies inside. We threaded scrap white ribbon through the ends, and wrapped the ribbon with a piece of twine tied in a bow.
To decorate this treat holder, we stamped the Hooray balloon from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set in Crumb Cake ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock. We punched out the stamped balloon with the Balloon Bouquet punch, then punched a second balloon from Crumb Cake card stock, and adhered both balloons with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
With different color, papers and stamps, these will be cute for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and all upcoming events. We will all be busy making these, and people will delight in receiving them!
