Sending You Healing Vibes with A Breast Cancer Ribbon
Greetings! Today’s card is in honor of breast cancer awareness and support. My friend Agnes came over Friday evening after work to catch up, have dinner, and make a card for October – Breast Cancer Awareness month. We worked together to design and build a card. Both of us are pleased with the result – teamwork!
We made the easel-style (vertical) card with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Thick Whisper White card stock, with the long edge scored, folded and burnished at 5 1/2″. The first layer that is glued to the card base is a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Silver Foil – can you say gorgeous?!!
And now for the jazzy part of the card! We stamped the decorated ribbon stamp from the Ribbon of Courage set with Versamark onto a scrap of Powder Pink card stock to get it really sticky and gooey. Then we sprinkled silver embossing powder all over the image and made sure it was totally covered, then we shook off and brushed off the excess powder. Using the Heat Tool on maximum heat, we waved it and rotated it near the image until all of the powder was melted, amking sure not to get too close and risk burning the paper. When finished, we had a beautiful, shimmery silver ribbon that is stunning in silver on pink. Then, using the large ribbon die from the Support Ribbon framelits, we cropped our pink and silver embossed ribbon and oohed and aahed for a few minutes. It is striking!
For the sentiment, we used “Sending You healing Vibes” from the Healing Hugs stamp set, but there are also sweet sayings with the Ribbon of Courage set that you could choose. We cut a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ layer of Powder Pink card stock, stamped the image in Versamark centered near the bottom edge, and melted/embossed the powder until we had striking silver words.
To pull everything together, we used a die from the Layering Ovals framelits to cut an oval from the Silver Foil as the background for the beautiful ribbon, and glued the ribbon onto the oval, then onto the pink layer, which was ultimately glued to the Silver Foil layer on the card.
We also cropped a small pink ribbon from the Support Ribbon framelits for the inside of the card. There is not a coordinating stamp, so we glued the pink ribbon to the card base.
We are pleased with our card. Fortunately, neither of us has a need to send the card right now, but unfortunately, we will likely use it at some point in the future.
