Showered with Love for the Inking Royalty Blog Hop…
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January Blog Hop. This is the first hop of 2020, and this year we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Valentine’s Day, so prepare yourself for lots of hearts and beautiful showcases of love. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list below.
My project includes lots of red and pink in honor of Valentine’s Day. The Stampin’ Up! products are from the 2019-2020 annual catalog, as well as the January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. When I saw the umbrella in the new catalog, I knew it would be cute for Valentine’s Day as well as for lots of other occasions. And I love the sentiment “showered with love”. Is anyone else humming a Jame Taylor song now? “Shower the people you love with love…” 😉 Although this is a standard size card, the small sentiment also lends itself to note cards or 3″ x 3″ cards. A smaller card might be my next project for Valentine’s Day.
I used the umbrella stamp from the Under My Umbrella stamp set. The set also includes a stamp for the umbrella handle, although I opted not to use it on this card. The “showered with love” sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set. If you haven’t yet seen Itty Bitty Greetings, take a look at the double set with an array of stamps for multiple occasions and celebrations throughout the year.Â
The card stock colors are Whisper White (4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and 3 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ layers), Flirty Flamingo (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base scored and folded at 4 1/4″, and a 3 3/8″ x 2 5/8″ layer), and Real Red (3 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ layer and a scrap for the umbrella handle).
To make the card, I cut, scored, folded and burnished the Flirty Flamingo card base. I then cut a 4 x 5 1/4″ layer of designer paper from a sheet of the From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper. I glued a Real Red doily and a Flirty Flamingo doily from the Heart Doilies in the upper left corner of the striped paper. Then I wrapped a strip of ~5″ Real Red 3/8″ Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon around the striped layer and adhered it with Tear and Tape. I cut a ~5″ piece of 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and wrapped it over the red ribbon, gluing it on the back of the designer paper. I then glued the striped paper onto the white layer and adhered it to the card base.Â
I stamped the Showered With Love Sentiment in Real Red ink on the small white layer of card stock near the bottom right. I then stamped the umbrella in red onto the heart paper, which is the opposite side of the striped paper used on the card. After stamping, I cut out the umbrella with the Umbrella Punch, and I also used the punch to cut an umbrella handle from the scrap of red card stock. I glued the umbrella handle and the stamped umbrella onto the white layer, then glued the layer first to the small piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock, then to the Real Red layer, and finally onto the card.Â
The bling on the umbrella and near the sentiment is from the From My Heart Faceted Gems.Â
Below are the Stampin’ Up! products I used to make today’s card. You can click on each item to learn more about it or to purchase in my online store.

Oh my! I had not thought of the Umbrella as a valentine item. It is so cute. You are correct on the sentiment being perfect as well!
Thanks Jackie. I am glad you like the card. This is a cute set, right? Happy Valentine’s Day.
Linda you always make such fun and wonderful cards! This is no exception
Thanks Jennifer. I am glad you enjoy them. This was a fun hop. Happy Valentine’s Day.
What a lovely card! I love all the details here… the strip of color under the ribbon, the layers, the use of the gems. I don’t have this paper but after seeing all the wonderful posts using it, I’m adding it to my list. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Sheryl. I am glad you like the card. The DSP is fun to work with, and I plan to make even more use of the umbrella and the hearts. Happy Valentine’s Day.
Love this card, Linda! That DSP in the background is perfect for falling rain!
Thank you Candy. I am glad you like the card. I must admit that I was not thinking of rain for the background paper, so it was a lucky choice. I like the umbrella and wanted to see it in hearts. Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love this, Linda! This set makes for a perfect Valentine’s Day card – and I love that you used this paper to build your umbrella. Such fun! I’m so happy you hopped with us today! ♥
Thanks Brian. This is a fun hop today. Thanks for hosting. Happy Valentine’s Day.
I never would have thought to use an umbrella for a valentine card but how cute is that. Love it.
Thanks for you kind words Lynn. I am glad you like the card. This has been a fun hop. Happy Valentine’s Day!
I was struck by how everything is slanted to match the background DSP, I totally love that! So many embellies you’ve coordinated perfectly. That ribbon is so pretty, and such a great print for the umbrella!
Thank you Sheryl. I am glad you like the card. It was fun to make, and it continued to evolve after I picked the umbrella and the sentiment. Happy Valentine’s Day.
Such a pretty combination of the DSP, punch, and stamp set. The bling on the top of the umbrella just finishes everything off beautifully. I love layering the polka dot tulle as well. Very nice!
Thanks Sue! I am glad you like the card. It was fun to make, and this was a fun hop. Happy Valentine’s Day.
This is sooooo cute! I have the umbrellas but haven’t used them yet. This inspires me to break it out! Xo
