“Thank you for making my birthday happy” from the All Thing Thanks stamp set is a fitting sentiment for cards for my girlfriends who celebrate my birthday with me each year. Last week we went out to lunch and had great food with lots of laughter. Oh, and there were gifts for me, thus the Thank You card. This is a sweet sentiment that i get to use only once per year, so I am taking advantage. I have more thanks to give, so stay tuned for more cards.
Since my friend Carol adored the card with frogs that I previously posted (see it here), I knew what I wanted to make for her. I started with the frog paper from Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper (DSP), and pulled the card stock and inks that coordinate with the paper: Call Me Clover and Lemon Lime Twist. I used the Stitched Shapes and the Layering Oval framelits, and the stamp from All Things Thanks. I added three rhinestones, because the frogs needed some bling! On the inside of the card I stamped a frog on a limb from the Animal Outing stamp set, and colored the frog with the Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write marker.
This is another clean, quick and simple card. Here are the materials, measurements and instructions.
Card Stock and DSP
- Call Me Clover: Card base = 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored, folded and burnished at 5 1/2″. Banner = 4 1/4″ x 7/8″. Die cut layer behind the sentiment = scrap ~3″ x 2″.
- Lemon Lime Twist: Panel = 5 1/4″ x 4″. Banner = 4 1/4″ x 3/4″. Die cut oval for sentiment = ~3″ x 2″.
- Whisper White: Inside panel = 5 3/8″ x 4/1/8″.
- Animal Expedition DSP: Panel = 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″.
- All Things Thanks
- Animal Outing
- Call Me Clover ink pad
- Lemon Lime Twist marker
I made the card base with Call Me Clover, then added layers of Lemon Lime Twist and DSP. I layered the Lemon Lime Twist banner on the Call Me Clover Banner, and glued them to the card. I ignored design principles and placed them strategically in order to not cover any frogs! But, luck was with me, and the placement is O.K.!
After stamping the sentiment with Call Me Clover Ink on Lemon Lime Twist, I cropped it using the oval die from the Stitched Shapes framelits. I placed the die over the stamped image, and ran it through the Big Shot. This created the stitched edge around the outside of the oval, which I love. I cut the scalloped Call Me Clover oval using the Layering Ovals dies and the Big Shot. I glued the sentiment oval to the scalloped layer, then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the layered ovals to the banners and the card. I added three rhinestones, and the front of this simple card was complete.
To finish the inside of the card, I stamped the twig and the frog on the Whisper White panel, colored the frog, and glued the panel to the inside of the card. Done!
